I just itch to etch ...

Why etchings? I am wild about the transformation from a copper plate all shiny and polished to lines and dimples flowing from corner to corner. And then, hurrah! All those little squiggles, lines and shapes dance onto some luscious paper. Bravo! What a performance!

My inspirations are the ancient southwestern symbols found scratched into the rocks, woven into fabrics and painted on pottery. These symbols of clouds, rain, mountains, birds, sky and animals work together to form a visual balance and harmony in my work. I carefully interpret a symbol into my own visual concept with the linear quality that melds with the etching process. And this, my friends, is the scratch to my itch.

Where I am Now
and Might be Tomorrow...

Etchings are the main focus of my art in printmaking. Images are etched onto a copper plate, inked and then hand printed on a printing press.

My artwork is for sale and available for purchase. You may contact me regarding price and availability via email: Marjorie@5AcreArts.com
