Repujado - the Fine Art of Metal Embossing

Lynda Abare hails from the high desert -- north of Phoenix, Arizona.  She lives with her husband and four furry kids in a little desert house surrounded by wildlife and desert flora. Her life and her art are largely influenced by the native Sonoran landscape.

She is a creative catalyst, an accomplished artist and teacher in a variety of media including altered art, bead weaving, calligraphy, handmade artist’s books and journals, photography, and metal embossing.

Lynda is a founding member of 5AcreArts.com - an artist collective, a Juried Artist and an active member of the Sonoran Arts League, and the E-News Editor for PaperWorks in Tucson.

In 2005, Lynda was certified by MercArt USA in "Repujado", the fine art of metal embossing. Lynda has taught and exhibited at ART Unraveled, an annual mixed-media art retreat held in Phoenix, Arizona. For several years Lynda took her love for metal embossing and the paper arts "on the road". John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina quickly became one of her favorite places to teach and attend classes. The last two weekends in November you’ll find Lynda and her metalwork in Cave Creek, Arizona at the Hidden in the Hills Artist Studio Tour.

Currently Lynda is teaching in Tucson and the Phoenix area.

“I love working with metal!  Pewter, copper, brass and yes, even aluminum.  My desire is to create artwork that can be handled, perused, enjoyed... Beautiful AND functional.”
